No Igbo Man should accept Vise President come 2023, MANPIE warns Southeast politicians.

Ahead of the 2023 general election, a new group has warned Igbos from aspiring for the post of vice president or coordinator in any political party.

The Movement for the Actualization of Nigerian President of Igbo Extraction, MANPIE, gave the directive on Saturday while inaugurating its officers.

In a keynote address, the group’s South East Chairman, Unuero Sylvester, said the 2023 Nigeria President of Igbo Extraction is an affirmation of the patience of Igbos with Nigeria and abiding faith in the capacity of the fatherland to accommodate and provide a guarantee that they truly belong.

Ndigbo only need to get their acts together for an Igbo to emerge as President of Nigeria 2023. The arc of the universe is long but it always bends towards justice. Ndigbo are the major ethnic group in Nigeria yet to produce a president.

And so if we go forth with this faith and this determination to achieve the presidency of Nigeria in 2023, Ndigbo will usher in a new day and a new Nigeria.

When that day comes the fears of insecurity, marginalization and doubt clouding Nigeria’s future will be transformed into confidence and excitement that Nigeria will accomplish creative goals, he said.

The campaign will be mounted in open spaces of the land, in the public domains, in the mainstream media, and the internet. It will have nothing to hide.

This project solicits the support of all Nigerians who believe in the equality of all our people, in fairness and social justice.

It demands the attention of all our patriots who subscribe to the principle of equal access to opportunities including power. The project calls for an understanding of people of conscience and refined sensibility who are unfettered by the prejudices of our past and unencumbered by illogical myths and legends.

He added, “Today MANPIE says to Igbo sons and daughters be not afraid, shun seeking for the Vice President and Coordinator positions and run for the President. If the South West/South-South emerged from the presidential contest, why can’t an Igbo man emerge in 2023, so today we are saying that no Igbo man should run for Vice President in any political party.

The Media Director of the group, Pastor Peter Dibia told Oneworld that the essence of creating the group was to remind NdIgbo that the zone is ripe to pioneer the affairs of the country and now is the time.

Nigeria: Fulani Herdsmen cattle has been ejected from Ogbaru community over destruction of farm land.

Indigenes of Ogbaru community in Anambra State have ejected herdsmen and their cattle from the entire local government area, over destruction of farms.

video circulating on social media showed tens of thousands of cattle being shepherded out of the local government by their owners.

The video was, however, confirmed to DAILY POST by the Transition Committee Chairman of the local government, Mr Arinze Awogu.

Though Awogu said the herdsmen and their cattle were yet to leave the community, he said discussions are ongoing for a peaceful exit of all herdsmen and cattle from Ogbaru owing to the atrocities they commit against the people.

He said the exit of the herdsmen and their cattle has been suspended until 12am on Sunday to ensure that their movement does not cause a traffic gridlock.

A letter by Awogu, which he wrote to stakeholders in the local government, and which he also made available to DAILY POST read: “May I start by appreciating our community leaders, Ndi-Igwe, the PGs, the woman leaders, the youth leaders, the vigilantes, our political leaders, the average farmer and the Ogbaru public for the maturity in handling the invasion of cattle and herders in Ogbaru and in our farm space.

We agreed that no one’s means of livelihood will be subjected to mindless destruction and pillaging and will listen to the voice of reason but you did; I must commend you and also for your patience and understanding thus far.

However, we have in the past days made appreciable progress in line with our avowed pursuit of a negotiated exit of the cattle and herders from our space and I can assure you that the process of
peaceful exit has been concluded. The herders will begin their peaceful movement by midnight today and will require free passage to exit.

I wish to appeal to our people, particularly those around Ossomala, Umunankwo, Ogbakuba and Ochuche-Umuodu axis to allow the herders uptil midnight to quickly and quietly leave as any movement in the day time may cause much difficulties both to the herders and to traffic, giving the number of cattle involved.

The law on anti-open grazing is clear and Ogbaru won’t accept anything to the contrary.

My Abductors are pure Fulani’s dressed in military Uniform said Chief Donatus Okereke Chief.

Chief Donatus Okereke, the Eze Ndigbo of Ifon in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, who was released on Friday evening, said his abductors were Fulanis dressed in army uniform.

Chief Okereke was kidnapped last Monday and spent five days before he was released, The Nation reports.

Speaking to newsmen at his residence, Okereke said: “It was on Monday, around 8:30 after morning mass. Then, I prepared to embark on a journey to Owo.

On getting to Elegbeka junction. I started hearing gun shots, I had no option than to stop because the bullets were too much.

One of them was wearing an Army uniform. They then dragged me to a bush and threatened to kill me if I failed to keep quiet and cooperate with them.

We spent eight hours in the bush, close to where I was abducted. We later trekked the whole night. The following day, we did the same thing. We actually trekked for three nights.

I was then released on Thursday around 11pm after payment of ransom.

At first, they demanded for N100m for my release but after much negotiation and begging, they insisted on the ransom of N20m, threatening me that if I didn’t pay them, they will kill me.

As you can see, I have not settled down, so my wife has not told me if they later reduced the ransom. My abductors are purely Fulanis.

Former National Chairman of PDP Dr. Okwesileze Nwodo has called on EFCC to probe missing 11.8bn.

Former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Okwesileze Nwodo, has raised alarm that the N11.8bn he handed over for the construction of the party secretariat was missing.

Nwodo, who disclosed this while delivering a paper on “Political Party Funding” during a two-day national retreat of the party in Abuja, urged the country’s anti-corruption agencies to probe the party and prosecute anybody found wanting.

Accountability and transparency in the management of party funds, today, we seem to have lost it. I handed over N11bn in fixed deposit and N800m in current account when I left as national chairman after seven months. I don’t see what was done with that money. Millions were raised to finish our national headquarters; we don’t seem to have a trace of where all that money went. Our headquarters is yet to be completed.

Today, we don’t even have a party account. We have to get back to strict monitoring of our party accounts. Our internal audit department needs to be strengthened and supported by the party leadership. Very strict sanctions must be imposed on mismanagement of party funds.  I suggest that we invite EFCC to probe erring officers and members. This is the only way to create deterrent,” he said.

Meanwhile, the party at the end of the retreat resolved that its new leadership should enthrone the principle of party supremacy to enhance discipline, unity, unanimity of purpose and, ultimately, landslide victories, come 2023.

The PDP National Chairman-elect, Dr Iyorchia Ayu, announced this yesterday in a communiqué issued at the end of the retreat. The participants also resolved that the PDP should engage different segments of the voting population especially youths and women in what they called the rescue mission.

Reconsider your decision on flight ban, South Africa to UK government.

South Africa said on Friday it will engage with the UK government to persuade them and reconsider their decision to ban flights from the country over a new coronavirus variant.

Whilst South Africa respects the right of all countries to take the necessary precautionary measures to protect their citizens, the UK’s decision to temporarily ban South Africans from entering the UK seems to have been rushed as even the World Health Organization is yet to advise on the next steps, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor said South Africa’s immediate concern is the damage that the decision will cause to both the tourism industries and businesses of both countries.

South Africa is one of the leading tourist decisions for British tourists.

The new variant, B.1.1.529, was first identified on Nov. 11 in Botswana. It has also been found in South Africa and Hong Kong.

British Health Secretary Sajid Javid announced the UK was banning flights from South Africa and five other countries because of the new variant.

Arrivals from Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Namibia, South Africa, Zimbabwe must quarantine in a hotel for 10 days and pay for the stay.

The EU has also urged member states to impose an emergency flight ban on countries where the new variant has been found.

EU grants Togo CFA9.5 billion to boost electricity in urban areas.

The European Union (EU) will allocate CFA9.5 billion to the PERECUT – a Togolese program aimed at boosting access to electricity in urban areas. The grant agreement was signed on November 23 in Lomé by Sani Yaya, Togo’s Minister of Economy and Finance, and Rémy Rioux, Director General of the French Development Agency (AFD), on behalf of the EU.

Adding this facility, the EU has so far poured CFA45.6 billion in the PERECUT which was launched in 2020. In detail, the three-year program plans for the laying of 190km of medium voltage networks, 1,660 of low voltage networks, and the construction of 371 MV/LV transformer stations. “The project will also support the Electrification for All Program through the provision of 58,000 additional meters,” a statement on the Presidency’s website notes.

The grant agreement of 14.5 million euros (9.5 billion CFA francs), which we have just signed with the AFD’s Director-General reflects the excellence of cooperation relations between the European Union and the Togolese Republic,” said Sani Yaya.

This European Union grant delegated to AFD complements the concessional loan of 40 million euros (26.2 billion CFA francs) granted by AFD and a KFW grant of 15 million euros (about 10 billion euros) for the implementation of the project,” Yaya added.

The new support facility was spearheaded by a group of European institutions called the Europe Team. This coalition, which includes the European Commission’s Directorate for International Partnerships, the AFD and the KFW (German Development Fund), aims to better coordinate the actions of the EU and its member countries for the benefit of developing countries. It has been carrying out a mission in Lomé for some days now.

Without electricity, society and the economy lack dynamism. I am particularly proud that the Team Europe Initiative with France, Germany and the European Union has been able to contribute to this important project,” said Dénis Koen, Director of International Partnerships at the European Commission.

IPOB accused Gov Nyesom Wike and Gov Hope Uzodinma behind illegal detention of Southeasterners by Nigeria Army.

IPOB said the two governors were complicit in the inhuman treatments meted out to the detained youths.

Pro-Biafra separatist group, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has accused Nyesom Wike and Hope Uzodinma, governors of Rivers and Imo states respectively of allegedly killing Igbo youths in their states to negotiate political relevance.

IPOB stated this in its reaction to the recent discovery by Intersociety that no fewer than 95 persons abducted by Nigerian soldiers are locked in Kaduna prisons.

SaharaReporters published yesterday that the International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law uncovered how military personnel abducted youths during #EndSARS protests last year October and let them rot in cells without access to their families and lawyers.

In its reaction, IPOB said the two governors were complicit in the inhuman treatments meted out to the detained youths.

The group’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful, said this in a statement made available to SaharaReporters on Saturday.

IPOB’s statement partly read, We gathered that some of those abducted from Obigbo in Rivers State last year as well as some of the Biafrans being abducted in Imo State are also in various secret detention in Kaduna Prisons and other secret security cells in Kaduna and Abuja.

It has come to the knowledge of IPOB that about 95 innocent citizens of Obigbo were discovered in Kaduna, 257 others kidnapped from Orlu Imo State sponsored by the Supreme Court Administrator of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, were discovered in different secret army cells in Abuja. Some Orlu residents abducted by soldiers were discovered In Kaduna prisons, while 257 others are still missing.

Members of the public are also invited to go and check their missing ones in the various army detention centres in Abuja

Hope Uzodinma of Imo State and Nyesom Wike of Rivers State were doing the bidding of their slave master because of political position.

IPOB is urging world leaders, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and other reputable human rights organisations in the world to take note of these atrocities and genocidal attacks and humiliations on people of Biafra. The Nigerian government, Wike and Uzodinma must be made to account for their atrocities against the people of Biafra.
