Nigeria newspaper headlines today Thursday 10th Feb phase 1.

A) A bill seeking to prescribe a jail term of seven years and/or a fine of N500m for officials who spend public funds on foreign medical trips narrowly passed second reading at the House of Representatives on Wednesday. Sponsored by Sergius Ogun (PDP, Edo), the proposed legislation is titled, ‘A Bill for an Act to amend the National Health Act, 2014, and for related matters.

B) Nigeria’s first lady, Aisha Buhari, on Wednesday evening visited Kano State to commiserate with the government, families and the people of the State over the loss of 5-year-old Hanifa Abubakar and the famous cleric, late Ahmad Bamba.

C) A year two student of the Department of Linguistics and African Languages, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Miss Ajibola Heritage Ayomikun, has died after she fell into a soakaway at one of the private hostels in the students’ village.

The matter was reported to police and personnel of the Osun State Police Command have commenced investigation into the incident
