A Palm plantation worker identified as Okeke Nkemjika has every reason to thank God after he escaped the clutches of some alleged Fulani herders by the skin of his teeth.
The victim narrated his ordeal to Sahara Reporters.
According to him, while he carrying palm fruits to a vehicle on his visit to the plantation on 22 May 2022, he met 8 Fulani herdsmen with guns, machetes, and sticks.
He revealed that they threatened to take him hostage if he doesn’t give them the sum of #30 million.
By then the driver of the vehicle he used in coming to the plantation has whisked away.
Nkemjika further revealed that he told his assailants he had no money and they told him to follow them to where they kept their hostages, which he refused.
When he insisted on not going with them despite their threat of shooting him, the victim said that the evil men used their machetes on his left arm and back after which he slumped.
Since he was bleeding profusely and the men couldn’t drag him, they fled the scene leaving him in a pool of blood.
The victim said that he was later rescued by officials of Ebube -Agu and some policemen after the driver of the vehicle informed them.
He added that the gang operates from Garrik Cattle market in Abia and alleged that they were responsible for all the abductions in Uturu and the killing of Abia State University students.
